New Beginnings

New Beginnings
By: Jeri Branham

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
(Genesis 1:1-4)

I like to begin my day in God’s Word. Today as I started my study in Genesis 1, I thought about New Beginnings. In Genesis we read how in the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth. I couldn’t help but think of my beginning with God as His child. In the beginning He made me a new creature. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (Corinthians 5:17) As I thought on these things I jotted down a few thoughts.

In the beginning God created me. I was without beauty and void. I walked in darkness. Then one day the sweet Holy Spirit moved upon my heart. I was convicted of the darkness of sin. God offered the gift of light, and my heart knew this was good and said, “Yes, Lord.” My life was new, yet a dark side remained; she was the old me. The battle was on: Light, or Darkness? Thank God the Light will always remain in me because God’s Gift is forever. Yet, sometimes I choose to dim the Light and enter into the darkness of sin. But as I grow in the beautiful garden of God’s grace, the Light of God’s Word shines through my life, and darkness flees.

I pray that each “Lady of the Home” will take to heart the new beginning God gives us with each new day. The old things of yesterday are passed away. This day, all things are become new. Let us determine to start our day in God’s Word and obey the things He tells us to do. Then we can become the lady He wants us to be.
