Jesus, A Very Present Help in Times of Trouble
We have had a few days of warm weather recently, and my children have been so excited. They have run and played outside all day long for several days.
Then the cold snap hit, and boy, has it been cold! We even had some snow flurries in the sky.
One week it was in the 80’s, and now it is in the low 40’s. The attitudes of the children went from anticipation and excitement to just plain pouting and discouragement.
It made me think of how we are in our Christian lives. So many times we are full of zeal and excitement for Jesus, and then through some bad “weather”, our spirits hit bottom.
We needed this rain and cold weather to kill germs and to water the fields the farmers are planting. We also need some inconveniences in our lives to make us into the Christians God wants us to be.
We cannot blame the hot water for the taste of the tea. The taste comes from what is in the tea bag. The hot water simply draws it out.
Let’s fill our hearts and minds with Jesus, and get busy serving Him. And when the bad times come, our lives will be a testimony of God’s grace.
Just like we like that cup of hot tea to relax, we can rest in Jesus!
