Vessels of Virtue |
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth,…
Welcome to the Vessels of Virtue Ladies’ Ministry page. As Christian women we have a great responsibility to show Christ to those around us. Most women do not realize the power God has given them to influence people. As a wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, grandmother, mother–in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, or cousin, you have a tremendous opportunity to influence your family. As a leader’s wife, Sunday School teacher, school teacher, missionary, office worker, or friend, you have the privilege to be a witness for Christ every day. Let’s take full advantage of these God-given opportunities, so that the kingdom of Heaven will rejoice!
Our Goal
Our primary goal for this page is to honor and glorify the Lord. Secondly, we want to be a help and encouragement to as many ladies as we can, that means you! If there is something that you have a question or comment about, please feel free to e-mail us at: vesselsofvirtue@montereybaptistchurch.com.

If the Trumpet…
By: Sara Branham
Read I Corinthians 14:1-22, 33-35, 40 (especially vs. 8)
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
We are in a spiritual battle. Our enemy is great, but our Captain is greater. Why, then would we want to stray away from His commands? If we have the greatest Commander of all, why would we not heed His instruction and follow His Word to the letter?
In battle, (at least in the “old days”) the trumpet (or bugle) was a very valuable tool. Tool? Yes, indeed! The trumpet was used to sound warnings, to call to “chow”, and to give just about every other command you could imagine giving a troop.
If a trumpeter or bugler was commanded to blow a “charge”, but wasn’t quite sure what he was doing and just started blowing, “Mary Had A Little Lamb”, what do you think would happen? Soldiers would be running here and there, not sure if they should grab their guns or forks!
There is a definitive reason for “blowing the right sound” as a Christian. We want our message to be crystal clear. We want the world to know that Jesus is coming back, and that they’d better get ready. If we begin to blend with the world, how can we be different? Curtis Hutson preached a message simply entitled, “Things That Are Different Are Not the Same!”
If we are the same as the world (dress, music, perversion of the Bible, places we go, crowd we “hang” with, etc.) how can we be a positive Christian influence? Why would they think that we knew what we were talking about when we blow a strange sound? To the world, to hear a “supposed” Christian talking about the things of God, but living like they do, it’s a strange sound that just isn’t clear.
There are so many Baptists these days that don’t have a clue what being a Baptist is really all about. They don’t have a clue what living like a Christian really means. There are more and more “Baptist” churches (and I say that very lightly) changing the way they do things from the standards they carry (i.e. music not only allowed, but invited into the church, dress, conduct, etc.) to the doctrines they no longer hold to (i.e. not holding fast the faith that was passed to us by our predecessors – sticking with the “old black Book” [KJB], allowing anybody and everybody to join the church, regardless of affiliations, qualifications, etc.). It’s really sickening.
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:15, 16)
Do we at MBC make God sick? Do we make Him sick in our actions, our attitudes, our lifestyle? Do we do things to bring a reproach to His name? I’m reminded of something that Bro. Doug Stauffer said when he was here preaching recently…"Our life has but one purpose…Please Him!" If we stop to think of all that we do in a day, all the places we go, people we see, things we watch, things we listen to, things we say, etc., would we see that we truly pleased Him in all that we did?
Does our trumpet blow loud and clear that we are Christians, that we are different, and that we have the answer the world is looking for?
