What Is It All About?

What Is It All About?

Why am I here?

What's the purpose?

These are questions that plague many of us everyday.  We live in a world of absolute uncertainty.  We live in a day of terrorism, war, heartache, loss, and disaster.  We never know what lies ahead and on every side as we go through this life.

There are some things that are important to know as we journey this path.  We are always concerned for our family, our friends, our children; some decisions, though, we can only make for ourselves.  Those who we love must make these decisions also, but we can only make them for ourselves.

So what is this decision that is so important?

If you were to take an unexpected turn in this life, and be faced with death and then eternity, are you confident of your destination?

God's Word, the King James Bible, says we can know for sure that we are destined for eternal Heaven with God, our Creator.

John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  You see, God loves every one of us individually.  He sent His son, Jesus, into this world so we could have life that never ends!

The miracle is that God loves us even though we are sinful people.  We've all done things that are wrong.  The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"  We are all sinners; everyday we sin.

Not only are we all sinners, but sin has a wage.  Just like we work to get paid, when we sin there is a payment for sin.  Romans 6:23a says, "For the wages of sin is death;"  Everyday we are earning death for ourselves, but the verse does not end there:  "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  This means no matter what we have done, no matter what it is we deserve or have earned, we can have eternal life in Heaven with Christ, instead of eternal death in Hell because of Jesus!

So what was it that Jesus did that gives us this right to live forever?  Romans 5:8 says, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." That means He died for our sins; He took our death for us!  We don't have to die forever because He died for us on the Cross of Calvary.  From the Bible we also know that three days later He was alive again, so that we know if we believe on HIM, we would be alive again, too!

So it comes down to this: in this world of darkness there is a light.  That light is the gift God has given to us in His son, Jesus Christ.

If we simply believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He came to live and die as a sacrifice for our sin, that He rose again, and accept the gift of eternal life He is offering, we can be saved from eternal death.

In a world of absolute uncertainty, we can be absolutely certain.  Are you certain today?
